Vicki Bernett has been training with Red E since August 2017, where she started in our Bootcamp101 program, which is designed specifically for beginners. After her initial 12 weeks, Vicki loved the benefits and results she was feeling from regular training and knew she had to continue!
Vicki transitioned into the studio with Semi-Private Training sessions a few times per week. Vicki is a very supportive member, encouraging all the people she trains with and is always keeping active with our Weekend Workouts! Upon seeing the 8 Week “Little Black Dress” Project, Vicki knew it was the extra challenge she needed to stay focused on a short-term goal. And her results showed her consistency!
Vicki has lost a total of 33cm, 6.5kgs and 5.8% body fat, and most importantly, she has incorporated a healthy, balanced lifestyle and she moves every day!!

When did you start training and what was your motivation to start training with us here at Red E?
The Red E Facebook page kept popping on to my feed, and after months of wondering, I just made the call and signed up for Bootcamp 101 in August 2017. Basically I was tired of huffing and puffing just trying to get my boots on for work. The rest is history!
What were your goals?
I had no real goals, only the generic stuff, I want to lose weight, I want to tone up, but nothing super focused as I’ve never been a goal oriented person.
So I set my self a goal not to drop out of the first 12 weeks of Bootcamp, because once I made that first 4 weeks and the second fitness test came around, there were results already!!!
What achievements have you made? What benefits are you experiencing?
I’ve really enjoyed the flexibility of the timetable, I do shiftwork also, so being able to choose from three times daily meant absolutely NO EXCUSES – inner challenge achieved! The fact that EVERY trainer at Red E is fully committed to keeping us motivated, even when we wanted to fall in a heap, makes it worthwhile. And working out with others in the same boat, encouraging each other, makes it more fun.
So, after 12 weeks of Bootcamp, my left knee decided to play up, so I decided to look at Semi Private sessions, and more strength training, just to give my old bones a breather. I committed to two sessions a week and the Bootcamp on Saturday mornings, then on the other days I’ll go for the 5k walk around the Botanical Gardens.
What did you do to achieve your results?
The LBD project was the next challenge. The nutrition session with Renae German, the goal setting session, and the bonus stretch and mobility sessions, were all great for keeping me on track.
What permanent lifestyle changes have you made?
Better meal choices when eating out, practicing mindful eating to make the smaller portions go further. I’ve also cut back a fair bit on my alcohol intake, whilst training myself to drink at least 3 litres of water a day, which is a mission in itself!!! Exercise is a part of everyday day now, feels good to be alive.
Fave healthy food? Any stir-fry, with every veg that makes it look like a rainbow in my wok.
Fave treat? Lindt Dark Chilli Chocolate
Fave exercise? Plank, and most variations
Least fave? Evil Jumps, I’m so unco, and knee does not respond well, haha!

Advice for others starting out…
If you want to get the fitness journey started, then just make that call, drag your butt out of the lazy zone, stick to your guns and remember no one else can make these choices except you, so time for some self -love, and join the #redefitfam, you’ll never look back.
