Sharn Roots has been a long-time client at Red E. Starting off with our Bootcamp for Women program, then challenging herself further with the kettlebell sessions, the next progression for her was the Semi-Private Training Sessions where she could challenge her body, and her mind further! Sharn has achieved some amazing results – including events at the Mackay Marina Run, Runner-Up Award in our 2014 “Little Black Dress” Challenge, and she has recently hit some big goal weights in the studio! Well done Sharn, you are a superstar and a pleasure to have with us!!
UPDATE – Sharn’s consistency and commitment to her goals and her training has earned her our October 2015 “Client of the Month” Award!!
What was your motivation to start training with us here at Red E?
I had done two years of Mackay Bootcamp for Women with Red E and decided to to join the Semi Private Training crew doing the “FAST” sessions after seeing how much they enjoyed the workouts and team environment and to really challenge myself in ways I hadn’t before.
What were your goals?
I started without any idea what I would be capable of – having not used ‘big’ weights before! My first goal was to perform 30kg squats. My current goal is to complete unassisted pull ups.
How have you gone with your goals? What achievements have you made? What benefits do you feel?
I have surprised myself, and I think the trainer too! I have recently hit a huge PB in my squats – with 75kgs!! I really struggle with pull ups but I have lessened the amount of support I use and enjoy doing exercises that will help me to achieve an unassisted set. I feel strong and full of energy and look forward to each session – and the end of each session!
What did you do to achieve your results?
I rely on a positive mid-set. I convince myself that I am enjoying lifting that weight or running whatever distance by smiling when I struggle. I always focus on my form my feedback from the trainers.
What permanent lifestyle changes have you made? I cut out one naughty food at a time until I don’t crave it anymore, then I look at my next weakness! I limit softdrink and alcohol to occasions only and try to get moving everyday, even a walk with the dog.
Fave “clean” food: Watermelon and mango
Fave ‘not so clean’ food: French Fries or ice cream
Fave exercise: push press and skipping
Most “Dreaded” exercise: Plank hold or commando thingys
