Fiona Smith has achieved unbelievable results since starting training with us in September 2016, nothing more phenomenal than her massive “100 Days Of Movement” challenge she set for herself. This challenge was focused on nothing more than the idea that if she became more active each and every day it would help everything around her fall into place, essentially creating the holistic healthy lifestyle that is so often dreamt of. Without fail Fiona achieved this incredible goal and noticed everything around her changed! Her family life became more active, her diet was much more manageable, sugar was completely cut out of her diet and even though she wasn’t focused on losing the weight, she has dropped an amazing 15kg in this 100 day period. Fiona shared her journey with photographs with the Red E members in our Client Forum, every ten days showing what her daily activity was. She has inspired so many, with others now doing the same challenge.
Fiona has displayed outstanding discipline and determination in not only her training with Red E, but also her dedication to creating a healthier and more active lifestyle for her and her family. Each and every session, Fiona brings her A game, some days it is harder than others, but everything Fiona does is done with intensity and purpose.
What Fiona has gained this period is priceless and and she is an amazing role model for her family!! We are so proud of her and so very happy for her achievements!
“Be strong, you never know who you are inspiring!”
Fiona has truly become a role model for what a balance and healthy life should look and in doing so has inspired so many people around her. Most recently Fiona took part in our 8 Week “LBD Project”, dropped another 5kgs, and celebrated her results in the final photo shoot with her gorgeous daughter! For this reason, Fiona was awarded our May “Client of the Month” Award!!

What was your motivation to start training with us here at Red E?
I had gained a lot of weight (again!) and was feeling unfit and unhealthy. I’d had good results from group workouts before, so when I saw Red E’s Bootcamp101 for Beginners, I thought it would suit me, especially if I was going to be working out with similarly unfit women. Since then I transitioned into the Red E Studio in the women’s “Intro to Strength Training” Program.
What were your goals?
Initially I wanted to lose weight, tone up, and improve my general fitness and health. However, I soon realised I also wanted to make positive lifestyle changes for my whole family – both exercise and diet.
How have you gone with your goals? What achievements have you made?
I had stopped weighing myself, however I know I’ve lost at least 17 kilograms. A lot of people congratulate me for that, however I really just cringe that I allowed myself to gain the weight in the first place.
I’ve reduced my body measurements considerably, and am more toned now than when I have been much lighter.
Working with the trainers in the Women’s Only “Intro to Strength Training” sessions has been amazing. With support I’ve improved my overall fitness, have lifted weights I wouldn’t have dreamed of being able to handle before, including a personal best leg press of over 300 kilograms!
What benefits do you feel?
I am feeling really strong and healthy. I can cope with much greater physical and mental demands in my work and home life.
The improved diet (I’ve removed sugar from our household) has had remarkable results for my children – especially in their focus and concentration at school. Whilst I thought I had a better than average knowledge of food and nutrients, I have since learned a calorie is not just a calorie. The incredibly harmful side effects of a high sugar intake are indisputable, and I am loving learning new recipes to minimise it in our family’s diet.
What did you do to achieve your results?
I realised that I needed to make exercise a part of every day of my life; to not view it as something unpleasant to do on a short-term basis just to lose some weight – again.
I started my “100 Days of Movement Challenge” where I committed to exercising in some form for at least 30 minutes every day. I hoped by doing this for 100 days I would create a habit for life.
Red E has supported my throughout this challenge – both in the studio and at home through e-mails and phone calls. They’ve helped make exercise an enjoyable part of my life.
What permanent lifestyle changes have you made?
I was delighted how quickly my husband and children became involved in my challenge. The kids especially were surprisingly quick to just accept that we did some “movement” every day. They joined me with walks and swimming, bike riding and Wii competitions, and even helped set up home circuits with boxing and weights.
I spend time every week meal planning, exploring new recipes and ingredients, and pass on this information to my family. The kids can all now calculate how many teaspoons of sugar are in a serve of food from a nutritional label (eg. 56 teaspoons in a super sized chocolate Easter Bunny !!).
Fave “clean” food: Fresh fruits, coconut yoghurt, chicken and steak.
Fave ‘not so clean’ food: Coffee and champagne.
Fave exercise: Kayaking.
Most “Dreaded” exercise: Burpees and push-ups.
Favourite Quote? “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.”
