Stacey Coombe was the winner of our October – December 2013 8 Week Body Transformation Challenge. Here’s her story…
What was your motivation to enter the 8 Week Body Transformation Challenge?
I started the 8 Week Challenge because I saw myself going down a bit of a destructive path. I didn’t care what I was eating, I was drinking all the time and it started to affect not only my physical appearance, but also the way I felt and performed in life (work and relationships). I knew I needed to make some serious changes and chose this challenge as my starting point. It was a good length and I trusted Red E and their trainers more than any other gym I’ve tried. This was my now or never decision.
Where were you 8 weeks ago?
I was in a very negative place, and found my outlet or ‘happiness’ in food and alcohol. I always felt tired and run down. I was putting on weight and was always bloated. My skin was constantly breaking out. It was time for me to take back control and make changes that would benefit me in a positive way.
What were your goals for the Challenge?
– To lose 3kgs in eight weeks and see toning in my back and chest region. To fit and feel comfortable in a size 10-12 bathing suit.
– Strengthen my core and achieve my ‘invert V’ in pole dancing.
– Find the will power to say no to treats 90% of the time, decrease my portion sizes and make my diet realistic so I stick with it when I’m finished the challenge.
How did you go with your goals? What achievements did you make? What benefits did you feel?
My first two goals were achieved by the four week mark and that was a great feeling and a big motivator! I’m feeling fitter, more awake, more organised, hell of a lot more positive. I am ecstatic about my physical changes and I know I can and will carry on with training at Red E and the diet now the Challenge is ‘finished’. I get really excited about the food I can create that is good for me and discovering all these amazing things I didn’t know about before! At work, 9am is now knows as snack-time!!
What did you do to achieve your results?
Monday – HIIT
Tuesday – Boxing
Wednesday – Walk (4K) or rest
Thursday – Pole Dancing
Friday – Bootcamp
Saturday – Bootcamp or At Home Workout supplied by Red E
Sunday – rest or At Home Workout.
My diet was a major shock to the system. I dropped anything I would no longer benefit from and although it took me eight weeks of collecting, my pantry is now full of clean food only. I also made sure I was super organised and always had meals made up in the freezer and stacks at the ready.
What permanent lifestyle changes have you made?
My diet is now a permanent and exciting change that I know I can stick to! I am forever discovering new things to do with real food and love the challenge. Halfway through the challenge I also found myself organising my life around exercise and naturally made it a part of everyday life! My friends and family have also had to adjust to this 🙂 I’ve had a renewed outlook on life and have really discovered a new side to myself I’ve never seen before.
Exercise wise – I’d love to keep training and perhaps have the body a a fitness model! 🙂
February 2014 update – Stacey joined Red E’s “Fit Chicks” Club in January and with the systemised weight training, has transformed her body further! Keep an eye on this page for an update of her photos!!
