“My motivation for undertaking the challenge was to prove to myself that I can discipline myself. I really stepped up my cardio the last few months with netball, soccer (games and training), 2 cardio sessions and a weight session. I was losing weight very slowly because I wasn’t strict on my food.
When I heard about their “Get Red E For Summer!” 6 Week Challenge, I thought to myself, if I focused on my food, imagine how much weight I could lose? It was all going great up until week 3 of the challenge (had lost 3.7 kgs) and then I hurt my knee. When the doctor said no sport until you see the surgeon, my first thought was “what about the challenge”. Against the doctor’s orders, I continued to come to sessions, just adjusted things to suit my injured knee. So obviously my weight loss was very minimal over the next 2 weeks of the challenge because my cardio sessions were minimal with no soccer or netball. I only lost 200 grams between weeks 3 & 5. Then the final weigh in arrived. I was just hoping to have lost 4kgs over 6 weeks.
However when the scales showed that I had lost 5.7kgs over the first 6 weeks, I was ecstatic. It was amazing to see the centimetres that I had lost from my waist and hips—in total 22.5cm from over my body!!
My goal was to eat healthy and therefore I had to cut out chocolate/lollies and alcohol (and you know me and alcohol are best friends). I really had to remain focused, especially at work when my office has a big barrel of lollies in it and my work mates constantly eat unhealthy food at lunchtimes that smells so good – especially when you are sitting there eating a salad!. My proudest achievement was that I didn’t give in (like I always used to!!).
In all of my years, I have never had the determination that I have had over that 6 weeks. Seeing what I could achieve, I set my next goal—to challenge myself for another 6 weeks until my birthday.
12 weeks later and I am now 8.5kgs lighter and I have lost a total of 47cm from all over my body!
The challenge was the best thing I’ve done. I am at my lightest weight since early high school and I haven’t touched chocolate in 12 weeks! I now know it was only in my head that I couldn’t NOT eat it. I am so happy and I have set my new goals— still no more chocolate until Christmas, and to drop a bit more weight (4kgs) by then. I know now, that I CAN DO IT!
Thanks to the team at Red E for helping me through it.”
