What motivated you to start training? Seeing the kiteboarding photo of myself, wanting to be fit & healthy & able to kiteboard comfortably without the kiteboarding gear & clothes feeling tight. I wanted more stamina & endurance to stay out on the water for longer periods of time & not feel fatigued both on the water but also in general life like walking up a flight of stairs. I felt I was unfit & at risk of injuries & could not keep up with the other kiteboarders. I wanted to go out socially & just pick anything out of my wardrobe without being upset that it no longer fitted me.
What exercise and lifestyle changes have you made? Joining Bootcamp for the past 4 months was my first step & this has driven me to be able to do more kiteboarding without the fatigue. It’s funny as you would think that you would be tired with all the early mornings & fitness nearly every day but you are not it actually gives you more energy. People ask me how I do Bootcamp, full-time work as a registered nurse & kiteboard as well. but I find I have more energy than ever now. Bootcamp has given me the drive, energy & determination to do more & feel positive about life. I changed my diet dramatically I ate nothing but starchy high calorie low vitamin & mineral foods. What’s the point in doing all that exercise & then putting that in to your body. I now eat a high protein diet with plenty of protein including meat & vegetables & drink lots of water each day & again the funny thing is my body does not miss the old foods. I can easily say no at a party to a slice of cake offered to me which I never could do before.
What were your Results? I started at 82.7kgs in August 2011, and as of the beginning of December 2011 I am now 76.2. I was a dress size 14 -16 & now I am 10 -12. I previously used a large kiteboard waist harness & now use an extra small, the difference from waist size Large to Extra-Small: 32″/34″to 26″/28”.
If asked by a friend, what would you tell them about Red E Personal Training (and the Bootcamps)? I love it, I have met lots of like minded determined woman that motivate you & the instructors have just the right combination of push & encouragement that you need to drive you forward & keep going. The variety of workouts & secret destinations are great too to keep your mind focused & not get bored. The instructors are really friendly & approachable. I think it’s brilliant being outside for a workout, getting some fresh air first thing in the morning – a great way to start your day & so flexible too as it’s easy to fit in around work & therefore stick with it.
